The involvement of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) to confirm the status of halal on consumer food products and goods in the country began in the year 1974 when the Research Center of the Islamic Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Office started to issue halal certification letters for products that met the criteria.

When Singapore officially became part of Malaysia on 16 September 1963, the airline underwent a rebranding exercise and was renamed Malaysian Airways Limited.
Maybank was established in 1960, and today is the largest company by market capitalisation on the Malaysian Bourse (Bursa Malaysia). It is ranked first among listed Malaysian companies and among the top 500 companies in the Forbes Global 2000 leading companies of the world.
